After reading through my writing again, I've come up with an overall concept.
In most religions there is a set of rules or principles that dictate what is seen as the correct and moral way of life. In Islam it’s called The Five Pillars of Islam. They are the shahada (Islamic creed), daily prayers (salah), almsgiving (zakāt), fasting during Ramadan (sawm), and the pilgrimage to Mecca (hajj) at least once in a lifetime. The Halahka is the collective body of religious laws for Jewish people. It includes biblical law (the 613 mitzvot), talmudic and rabbinic law, as well as customs and traditions. We as Catholics have The Ten Commands which were given to Moses by God and are recorded in two places in the bible.
Ptolemy is credited as the person who originally discovering the four elements, the Zodiac wheel, and the signs of astrology in the second century. The theory that there since is an elemental balance and that it is necessary to sustain life is a long standing one. This balance is made of four components, which are earth, air, water and fire. These elements depend on each other in order to function. Together they make up the circle of the Zodiac wheel. If any one of these four elements is missing, the circle is broken and it was believe that life could not be sustained. Each element had certain attributes. Earth is seen is the body; practical, sensual and grounded. Air is seen as the mind; intellectual, ideological, detached, social and conceptual. Fire is seen as the spirit; inspired, energetic, instinctual, outgoing and active. Water is seen as the emotions; imaginative, nurturing and introverted.
My concept stems from this need to have an over-ruling set of principles or beliefs. Success, Spirituality, Love and Creativity have always been important features in my life but for the first time I'll end ever to explore them more deeply and try to understand. I associate each of these topics with one of the four elements and therefore a colour. I'll try to incorporate these colours into the over look of the photograph is well as the make I'll be doing.
Earth/Green/Success
Air/Yellow/Creativity
Fire/Red/Love
Water/Blue/Spirituality
