Artist Statement:
"The only thing that is capable of draining, inspiring, stressing, uplifting and all consuming at the same time."
The concept behind aspect of the project is how trying to be creativity drains me and if I'm lucky enough it filters into my designs.
I used body paint to achieve the effect that I desired. The blending of the white on my face it the gold on my chest to the brown on my arms symbolises the journey that is creativity. For me it moves from a blank canvas to become something I can work with (white into pale gold). Then the project would peak in terms of that feeling that inspiration gives me (pale gold to sun gold to deep gold). However there reaches a certain point in this process where the feeling of awe and inspiration turns to despair and I fail to produce the amazing thing I had envisioned (deep gold to mud brown). The painting technique I used shows un evenness and shows brush strokes. This is meant to reminisce what a fine artist would do on there canvas. I'm wearing a blanket and bustier as a dress to symbolise that not all fashion is amazing. I set the picture up so that the light would flow from light to dark also symbolising the journey. My stance shows my surrender to creativity. I'm holding "the dress" so that the dark of my arms flows into the "dress" thus unifying us. Making us one.
